Kathmandu: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, has granted permission to keep 19 individuals, including Milan Gurung, also known as Chakre Milan, in police custody for seven days for further investigation into their alleged involvement in criminal activities.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Bishwaraj Adhikari of the Kathmandu District Police Range, the accused were arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office and the District Police Range in various areas of the capital.
“These 19 people were found involved in unlawful activities, including disturbing public peace, obstructing movement, and spreading fear among the general public,” SSP Adhikari stated. He further informed that the detainees are being investigated on charges related to indecent behavior under existing legal provisions.
The arrests were made during a late-night crackdown in the Thamel and Maharajgunj areas, where police initially detained 47 individuals. However, after preliminary screening, 28 were released upon being found uninvolved, while 19 have been kept in custody for deeper inquiry.
The arrest of Chakre Milan, a figure with a known criminal past, has once again drawn attention to ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb organized crime and ensure public safety in the capital.
